Deadline for Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen contests approaching

Foreign war veterans and auxiliaries sponsor several opportunities for local students to obtain education funds for their future. Information and registration forms were shared with local schools.

The deadline for the Voice of Democracy speech and audio contest is October 31. There are monetary rewards at the local, district, state, and national level.

Grades 6, 7 and 8 have until October 31 to also enter the Patriots Pen Contest. It requires a written essay and also offers monetary rewards.

Other contests with the March 31, 2022 deadlines are the Creative Patriot Art Contest, which is open to all levels, and the Illustrating America Art Contest for students in Grades 1 through 8. There is also the red, white and blue singing competition for students from kindergarten to 12th grade. Sing the national anthem your way. There are rewards at all levels.

The Legion of Genoa will host a pancake breakfast

Genoa – Genoa American Legion Post 324, 302 West St., will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 31. The menu includes pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, cookies, gravy and applesauce. The cost is $ 8 for adults and $ 5 for children. Dinner on site or to take away.

Ottawa County Electoral Council to organize equipment test

OAK HARBOR – The Ottawa County Electoral Council will conduct a public test of voting materials at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The test will take place at the Board of Elections office, 8444 W. Ohio 163 in the Veterans Memorial Building.

All Wheels Swap set at the fairground

An all-wheel swap will take place at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds, 901 Rawson Ave., Fremont, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $ 5.
