Edo State Government Holds Creative Writing Contest to Celebrate Democracy Day

To commemorate this year’s Democracy Day, the Edo State Government is holding a creative writing contest for private and public schools in the state.

The Edo State Ministry of Communication and Guidance, in partnership with the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, is organizing the tournament (Edo-SUBEB).

The essay contest, themed “Democracy and the Nigerian Child,” aims to harness the creative writing abilities of children in the state.

The competition is open to public and private school students in Edo in upper primary (primary four to six) and junior secondary (JSS one to three).

The essay contest is scheduled to take place in all 18 local government areas across the state on Monday, June 13, 2022, with an awards ceremony to follow.

According to a statement signed by Ms. Rose Imonike, Director of Guidance and Chair of the Competition Organizing Committee, the Grand Final/Award will take place at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City at 10:00 am.

She expressed confidence in the commitment of the government led by Governor Godwin Obaseki to lifelong education reforms aimed at tackling learning poverty and ensuring that every child in Edo is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge. to compete with its peers around the world.
